Future Games

In addition to improved visuals, the new version of the game will also feature additional content, including a roguelike mode called No Return and three new, unfinished levels that were cut from the original game, called The Lost Levels. This week, new details about these contents were released.

New details about both new features in The Last of Us Par 2 Remastered have been confirmed on a new product page on the PlayStation website.

Lost Levels let you explore early development versions of three new levels not seen in the original The Last of Us Part II: Sewers, Jackson Party, and Boar Hunt. Enjoy hours of never-before-seen developer commentary on the development of The Last of Us Part II as you experience the game.

No Return will allow players to step into the shoes of multiple characters for the first time.

Survive as long as you can in each run as you choose your path through a series of random encounters with different enemies and memorable locations from The Last of Us Part II, all culminating in tense boss battles.

Unique gameplay modifiers can offer new and unexpected challenges as you fight to succeed – and survive – in a series of different encounter types. Play as a variety of characters, including never-before-playable characters like Dina, Jesse, Lev, Tommy and more, each with unique traits to offer different playstyles, and unlock skins for them as you progress to use in the mode.
According to developer Naughty Dog, the game will also feature improved graphics, including native 4K playback in Fidelity mode and 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance mode.

Given that the development of The Last of Us’ multiplayer mode appears to be experiencing serious development issues, it’s good to see that Naughty Dog has managed to add something new to the remaster.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered arrives on PS5 on January 19, 2024.
