Nintendo Switch 2 should not have Deep Learning Accelerator and limit DLSS with Ray

Games

Nintendo Switch 2 development kits have already indicated that the console should have Ray Reconstruction with DLSS 3.5. However, Richard Leadbetter said that the Switch 2 will not have Deep Learning Accelerator (DLA), limiting DLSS capabilities to lower resolutions.

Leadbetter’s interview was given to the Digital Foundry Weekly podcast. In it, it was mentioned that the Nintendo Switch 2’s DLSS should support resolutions of 1080p or, at most, 1440p in some scenarios.

On the other hand, as the Switch 2 must have the T239 chip based on the T234 with NVIDIA’s DLA, it is also possible that Nintendo has changed its plans so as not to make the console more expensive.

In this way, the Switch 2 must rely on Ray Reconstruction to provide DLSS 3.5 and provide graphics that can even surpass the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in terms of ray tracing.

To increase the frame rate, the Nintendo console must opt for Frame Generation technology, but this should not mean that we will see games at 120 fps on the Switch 2, as the objective was never this, as this would greatly increase the energy consumption of the system. portable
